PERSONAL BACKGROUND

Growing up in the Ottawa valley and now living in Ottawa with his family, Mr. Thiele has many years of experience and appreciation of the legal issues confronting his clients. Mr. Thiele has an early farming background subsequent to which he has significant business experience in the hotel and restaurant business as well as residential leasing.


PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Mr. Thiele as a member of the Ontario Bar, as well as the Law Society of Upper Canada, is privileged to represent the interests of his clients in the Superior Court of Justice, the Ontario Court of Appeal and all Administrative Tribunals.

Mr. Thiele teaches in the paralegal and law-clerk program at Algonquin College, and is a frequent lecturer at various conferences including the solicitor’s conference, the Ontario Non Profit Housing Association (ONPHA) conference, as well as at numerous community organizations and non-profit group meetings. Mr. Thiele welcomes invitations to speak with community groups and organizations.


AREAS OF PRACTICE

Mr. Thiele’s broad range of legal experience is of great benefit to his clients. Mr. Thiele actively pursues and/or defends his clients in cases involving: residential landlord and tenant disputes including co-operative housing cases, wills and estate disputes, contract disputes, insurance claims, personal injury, and commercial debt collection cases Mr. Thiele practices extensively before administrative tribunals including the Landlord and Tenant Board, Social Benefits Tribunal, Criminal Injuries Compensation Board, municipal and city licencing committees, discipline committees of the regulated professions, and school and university discipline committees.

Mr. Thiele has developed a problem solving approach to the issues faced by his clients. This approach recognizes that clients want their problems solved early, efficiently and economically.


EDUCATION

Mr. Thiele received his Bachelor of Arts Degree (with Honours) in 1992 from Colby College, in Waterville, Maine, U.S.A.. He further spent time abroad in Scotland at the University of Glasgow. Mr. Thiele obtained his law degree from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, in 1995, and was called to the Bar of Ontario in February 1997.
